Dear Bend-Tech Customer,

If you are having concerns with the smoothness related to motor functions on the Dragon Machine, the Gecko driver (which drives the motors) has a few select dials that can be adjusted in order to improve the efficiency of your machine.

If you're satisfied with the efficiency and travel of your machine's axes, then we strongly encourage you NOT to follow the steps below.

Following the steps below will:

  • Reduce Motor Noise
  • Improve Cut Quality and Accuracy
  • Reduce Unwanted Vibrations
  • Improve Overall Steadiness of Axis Travel

We are contacting you to make you aware of these adjustments and to instruct you to make changes on an as needed basis.

The manufacturer of these Gecko drivers sends the drivers to our Dragon manufacturer in a pre-adjusted state so that the screws inside the trim pots (seen in the image below) are set to an 11 o'clock position.

These screws can be rotated along a 270º scale (from 8 o'clock to 4 o'clock), but our experience has shown that carefully adjusting these screws counter-clockwise to the 8 o'clock position has improved operations of the machine considerably!

Please follow the steps below to make these adjustments.

1. Start by making sure that your Dragon machine is powered off and the power cord is removed from the machine for your safety.

2. Continue by removing the electronics guard plate by using a ratchet and a 3/8 inch socket on the 4 nuts securing it to the machine. Remove the guard plate and set aside.

3. Locating the Gecko driver on the control box, use a small Phillips head screwdriver (a screwdriver used for eye-glasses or electronics will work best) to turn these screws in the trim pots counter-clockwise until it reaches the 8 o'clock position. IMPORTANT: Be very careful to use finesse in turning these screws as they are very fragile. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN.

NOTE: We are aware that when you remove the guard plate from your machine, there will be cords and wires everywhere. It is not necessary to remove any of these cords to accomplish these steps, but if you do it is suggested to mark them for the port they are meant to be attached to before removing them.

Thank you.
